Questions
Answered plainly.
Is Skilled Gentleman licensed, bonded, and insured?
Yes. Skilled Gentleman is licensed, bonded, and insured, and permitted trade work — plumbing, electrical, and similar — is performed by licensed, insured trade partners we've personally vetted.
Do you background-check the craftsmen who come into my home?
Yes. Every craftsman is personally vetted by Gene before they ever enter your home. We treat access to your home as a privilege, not a transaction.
What areas do you serve?
Longboat Key, Lido Key, Siesta Key, Casey Key, Bird Key, St. Armands Key, and the Sarasota bayfront. If your home is nearby and not listed, ask — we're expanding carefully.
How is this different from a typical handyman service?
We're a private estate team, not a handyman dispatch. Master craftsmen for stone, wood, tile, and fine finishes, backed by a small team that's accountable for every detail — one call, and it's handled.
What is the Keyholder membership?
Our flagship relationship: priority response, a dedicated craftsman who knows your home, scheduled check-ins, and member rates. It's for homeowners who'd rather never think about home care again.
My home sits empty for part of the year. Can you check on it while I'm away?
Yes — that's Estate Watch. Scheduled inspections, storm preparation, and a trusted set of eyes while you're away, so a small thing never becomes a large one.
How quickly can you respond?
Most requests are scheduled within a few business days. Keyholder members and Priority Repairs receive faster, first-in-line response.
Do you handle plumbing and electrical work yourselves?
Permitted plumbing and electrical work is performed by our licensed, insured trade partners — vetted by us and coordinated through the same single point of contact as everything else, so you're never left managing multiple vendors.
